Winter Bocce Week 4 Recap

Here we go

4 weeks of the regular season have passed. Only one left before the playoffs. (reminder that everyone will play in week 6 but only top 2 teams in each league are eligible for the championship).

After last night, we have a lot of shifts in the standings. In the Paul Revere League, we have 3 undefeated teams and 2 teams without wins. So next week will be exciting as we’ll be seeing some of these head to head matchups.

Game(s) of the Week:

Big In Bocce (4 – 0) vs Mission Imbocceball (4 – 0)

Both teams are currently undefeated. However Mission Imbocceball holds an eight point lead in the differential. If Big In Bocce pulls off the win, they get themselves into the playoffs. Mission Imbocceball could still back door their way in if they lose but the mighty Tap That team is also undefeated and would get in with a win. Win and in. Lose and out.

It’s Bocce Bitch (0 – 4) vs Balls and Dolls (0 – 4)

What more can I say? We have 3 teams left that are winless. 2 of them matchup next week. Something has got to give.

Week 3 Complete

Here we go

The standings are starting to settle themselves out. 2 weeks left in the regular season and plenty of bocce to go. Mathematically, only 3 teams out of our 16 have been eliminated from playoff contention. So it’s really very much up in the air. The matches next week will go a long way in cementing things.

Speaking of next week, I haven’t been taking nearly enough pictures. So start working on your action shot poses as I’ll be asking you to pose.

And an inquiry regarding the rules. In the scoring, it’s the first team to 13 that wins. You don’t have to win by 2 points. Also, you can’t score more than 13. So even if your team has 12 points and manages to score 3 points in the final round, you get credit for 13 even though you scored 15. No bonus points.

Game of the Week:

Taj Maballs (2 – 1) vs Mission Imbocceball (3 – 0)

Mission Imbocceball has been cruising all season and sits in first place in the Paul Revere League. Perenial playoff contendor, Taj Maballs, only has 1 loss but knows if they don’t win this match their playoff hopes will be gone.

Week 1 Complete

Hope you all had a fun time last night.

Couple of things people were asking about last night

Playoffs: The playoffs take place in week 6. Every team will play that week but only the top 2 teams in each division are eligible to win the championship. Example, if you looked at the standings after week 1. Taj Maballs would play Tap That. Blackballed would play That’s Boc-CE Said! The winner of each of those matches would then face each other for the championship.

Bocce Order: Players MUST stay in the same order all game. So if you’re throwing the pallino (the small white ball), you’re doing it the entire match. You don’t change your order at all. So before you begin, decide how you want to set your lineup.

There was some confusion with this so just want to make sure we’re all on the same page.

 See you next week
